Not long after the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks, a film version of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was released, starring Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, and young Thomas Horn in his film debut as Oskar.  Max von Sydow also garnered an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of "The Renter".  Have you seen this film?  Did it live up to (or surpass) any expectations you had from having read the book?  Do you approve of the casting, or would you have preferred other actors in the lead roles?  Did you get a similar experience from seeing the film as you did from reading the book?  Feel free to share any thoughts on how this book translated to film right here.  :)
